In the rural communities of Mamit District, Mizoram, thousands of tribal farming families depend on small-scale agriculture and livestock for their livelihoods. However, limited resources, poor market access, and lack of technical support often prevent them from reaching their full potential.
This project aims to empower 2,500 livestock farming households through sustainable goat farming, helping families increase their income, strengthen food security, and build long-term economic resilience.
The initiative provides:
- Improved goat breeds for better productivity
- Training in modern goat farming practices
- Veterinary care, vaccinations, and health support
- Low-cost goat shelters and feeding assistance
- Market linkages and farmer producer groups
- Community-led livelihood development and support networks
The Impact We Aim to Create
Over three years, the project will:
- Support 2,500 farming households across 11 villages
- Increase meat and milk production by up to 20%
- Improve annual household income through livestock farming
- Train local community resource persons and farmer groups
- Strengthen farmer-owned institutions and market access

- Help approximately 300 women access resources to start livestock enterprises.
- Support the establishment of approximately 600 piglets and 3,000 poultry across livestock enterprises.

- Establish a revolving fund that can help more women access livestock financing over time.
